PDF OCR X Community Edition for Mac functions well and offers an easy-to-use solution for users looking for an application that can create searchable one-page documents from PDFs or for those who need to quickly extract text from an image. This Asian OCR recognizes Japanese, Traditional Chinese. The community version of the program only supports one page PDFs, though, which is a frustrating limitation. The tested PDF converted to text well, without any transcription errors. ![]() The output file is automatically loaded for review and can then be saved or discarded easily. On both iMac and MacBook Pro, verified that all my Office 365 apps are up to date. I decided, as a last resort, to try it on my ancient iMac. Understood, that OCR is built into Windows, unlike on Mac. Clicking a well-labeled convert button initiates the process, which completes quickly. For over two hours, could not get OCR to work on recently purchased MacBook Pro 16' model/2019. These include preferred language, the number of columns, and different text wrapping types. Once moved into the program, an additional menu comes up where users can select from a number of input and output settings. Files can also be manually selected from a Finder window via a drop-down menu. The main interface of PDF OCR X consists of a small, unassuming window where PDF files can be dragged and dropped. The application's basic interface couldn't be easier to use, and it worked like a charm in our tests but this version of the app limits you to one-page conversions. ![]() Furthermore, the scan with OCR does not work with the HP Smart App (normal scans and also Smart Task) and more importantly: directly at the printer with the normal 'Scan -> E-Mail' function. Step 1: From the Microsoft lens OCR, navigate over the selector dial above the shutter button and select 'Document'. Permit to access your camera and follow the following step-by-step guide to scan a paper document then edit it with Word for iOS. Unfortunately, this does not work on my MacBook. First, download Office OCR from the App Store and install it on your iDevice. It works with both PDFs generated from a document and scanned PDFs. With HP Easy Scan it has been possible to scan and search documents on my Mac Pro. PDF OCR X Community Edition for Mac converts PDFs and images into text or searchable PDF documents. ![]()
